Quintender Sire: Quinar

The Sire Quinar is a son of Quidam de Revel. Quinar experienced a meteoric rise in his career following the most recent Holstein approval. The stallion, who is stationed at the Zangersheide studfarm of Leon Melchior, has presented two overwhelming premium stallions that demonstrated a class of loose jumping that had for all intents and purposes never been seen at the Holstein Hall in Neumünster before. This was honoured by the absolutely sensational price of €uro 400.000 for Quick Nick,

The Damsire, Contender, won the 1987 Stallion Performance test at Adelheidsdorf with the impressive jumping score of 146.62. He was later named Reserve Champion Main Premium Stallion of Oldenburg based on the extremely high quality of his first crop of foals. Contender stood at stud in Oldenburg for 3 years, and thereafter stood in Holstein. Contender is one of the most sought after jumping sires in Germany, in Hannover, Oldenburg, and Rheinland alone, produced 498 successful registered performance horses, nearly 80 Licensed sons, and 782 registered daughters, of whom almost 60 have been State Premium mares, including the mare Riconda, who, in 1993, was awarded Champion of the Elite Mare Show at Rastede.

From Contender's first crop of foals alone came the international jumping horses Maria Callas (Ben Schröder), Niko (Geoff Billington), and Copa D’oro (Yves Houtackers), as well as the eventer Chicoletto (Herbert Blöcker). Marco Kutscher is currently riding no less than three licensed Contender sons in international showjumping, these being Contreo, Conterno Grande and Montender, who was a Bronze Medallist at the Athens Olympic Games, German Champion in 2003, and European Champion in 2005. Checkmate competed at the European Championships under Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, and the pair also won on the Rider's Tour. Collin L, won the German Showjumping Derby ridden by Toni Hassmann. And, Controe (Contender x Aloube Z) has on two occasions taken 2nd place in Major classes at CSI’s at Amsterdam and Stockholm.

The 2004 World Champion Sire, Con Spirito R (Contender x Caletto I) has competed successfully under Theo Muff, and is now standing at the Ruetimann Stud in Switzerland. Other successful Contender sons include, as well as Contendro I, Camiros (1994 Licensing Champion), Contango (Performance Test Champion at Oldenburg, later exported to the US), Cantos (Contender x Goodtimes), Chellano Z (Contender x Cor De La Bryere), Koriander (Contender x Moltke I), Canabis Z (Contender x Silvester), Clinton (Contender x Maikoenig), Continue, Concetto, Caius, Coleo, Calvador, Concerto I and II, and CORDOBES I and II, who were purchased by Warendorf, the State Stud of Westphalia. Interestingly, Cordobes I was winner of the 1998 Stallion Performance Test with an overall score of 146.29, a mere 0.33 different from that of his sire! In 2004, Contender was ranked 3rd in the World Showjumping Sire Ratings.

A top competition horse, two times Bundeschampionat finalist
and 1.50 m jumping class winner.

This Quidam de Revel grandson is increasingly coming into the limelight with his perfect jumping technique. He produced the most expensive foal at auction in 2008, which sold for EUR 120,000, and the champion foal at the German Foal Championship in Lienen. His first offspring are already competing very successfully in novice horse classes. This thoroughbred-type Holstein stallion won two Bundeschampionat qualifiers and was placed in the final. He sails around advanced show jumping courses with ease and is continuing his competitive career. Sire, Quinar, was also a successful international show jumper with Jos Lansink. His offspring have all inherited his excellent Holstein genes. He has produced over 18 approved stallions, plus numerous successful competition horses which have accumulated over EUR 175,000 in prize winnings. In 2003, six of his sons were approved, including Quick Nick, a successful 1.50 m show jumper which sold at auction for the record price of EUR 400,000. Maternal grandsire Contender's progeny have collective lifetime earnings total of more than EUR 5.8 million and include exceptional horses such as Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum's Checkmate, making him one of the best breeding stallions in the world. Quintender is descended from a very reliable performance horse bloodline. His granddam B-Estelle produced Peter Eriksson's Olympic team silver medal winner Cardento. This Holstein bloodline has also produced the approved stallions:

  • Cardenio
  • Cyranos
  • Leandro
  • Quinto de B
  • Capitalist
  • Colorit
  • Randi/John Whitaker

and Franke Sloothaak's internationally successful show jumper Leonardo.
Quintender is a stallion with a proven competitive track record and excellent breeding qualities.

2009
Conterno Grande
(Contender x Grannus)

The FN breeding value ratings in the last years showed in black and white: Conterno Grande belongs nationwide to the best jumping pedigree.
This large-framed Contender son, from Seiferts own breeding program, began an exemplary career in jumping: he began as reserve winner of the Oldenburg stallion approvals in 1997, he then went on to complete his stallion performance testing in Adelheidsdorf in 1999, where he had especially high notes for jumping.
In 2000 he was qualified under Joachim Heyer for the Bundeschampionat for German jumping horses, where he finished fifth overall with great critical acclaim from the international press.
In 2001 he was able to top his already big time success: with the exemplary ride in the qualifications in Warendorf he missed the win for the six-year-old jumping horses by a hundredth of a second.
In the start of the 2003 season the "Contender-Specialist" Marco Kutscher (European Champion) took Conterno Grande under his wing.
To follow was a win in his first S competition in the Youngster Tour.
At the CHIO Aachen in 2003 the pair was honored as the most successful pair in the Youngster Tour.
The talented stallion is now under the seat of Philipp Weishaupt. They began their career together with a win in the Team ratings from the Riders Tour 2004, in Team-S*** in Bremen and following placings in Helsinki, Oslo, Milan and Paris-Bercy.
He won the great price of Cesko, in Nörten-Hardenberg, the Great Price of Bremen. End 2006 also the international Stallion-Jumping in Mechelen (B).
Conterno Grande combines the fascinating basic gaits with outstanding jumping ability making him typical of his sire Contender.
The mother Grannuschka is the full sister to the successfully bred, sporty Gio Granno/Franke Sloothaak.
In 1998 this mare gave birth to the internationally successful premium stallion, Couleur Rubin.
Grannus, Ramino, and Volturno all played a roll in national and international sport and clearly passed on their performance abilites to the later generations.
Conterno Grande also comes from the line of the successful international three-day-eventing mare Chica (breeding name Rudilore II), ridden by Wolfgang Mengers.
From this pedigree is also the liscenced and Grand Prix stallion Tantris, who is successful in the international dressage.
The eldest offspring from Conterno Grande have already shown much success as winners in young horse jumping tests.
Unfortunately in December 2008 Conterno Grande died much too early.
